Yes, that's the picture that depicts the Prince I will always remember. He was so unique and special. Just recently I told my daughter how I would love to see him playing live once. His energy was bursting out of his every move. An amazing person...
Ugh. Sooo sad. Purple Rain was released my sophomore year in college. It was on the playlist at every party for the next few years (along with Bowie's Let's Dance... sigh!!!) And 30 years later they were still making music. Great music, amazing artistic expressions. And now they're gone. Just so incredibly sad.
I'm devastated. Prince Purple Rain was the first concert I attended at age 13/14ish. I've always been an enormous fan. Even in the past 5+ years I realized more about him and his androgynous, "not to be put in a box" style that resonated with me so strongly. I am deeply saddened. Bowie then Prince. 2016 not a good year for death of musician legends. I'm wearing Guerlain Insolence today because it's the most purple fragrance I could think of...
Prince's music was part of the soundtrack of my childhood. Scott Weiland, David Bowie, Glenn Frey, Merle Haggard, and now Prince in less than six months. RIP.
It's been a non-stop celebration of Prince's life here in MN. He was one of us - he was born here, grew up here, made it big and never left. He was just seen last week at a record store, then riding his bike in Chanhassen (the suburb where Paisley Park is located). Our city is lit in purple - bridges, stores, church bell towers, skyscrapers, sports arenas, The Guthrie Theater, fountains - and all radio stations have a constant stream of Prince. There's dancing and crying, all night parties at First Avenue (where Purple Rain was filmed) and Purple Rain screenings in all theaters. Paisley Park is a purple memorial, fans have come in a constant stream, despite the (purple) rain, to leave flowers, balloons, artwork, and notes. I think that every single purple flower and balloon in MN is woven into the fence surrounding Paisley Park. RIP Prince Rogers Nelson.

Am in a state of complete shock over this. Thinking about the loss of Bowie still brings tears to my eyes and now Prince. Deep, deep sadness.
