Book
I've been tearing through some beauty books for a future post. My favorite so far is Korean Beauty Secrets: A Practical Guide to Cutting-Edge Skincare & Makeup by Kerry Thompson and Coco Park.
Music
Iggy Pop- Gardenia, from his brand new album.
TV
There's been no binge-watching or new discoveries lately. I guess we're in a waiting mode for the new seasons of The Americans, Orphan Black, and Game of Thrones.
Perfume
I'm a bit iffy about most new releases (except DSH Rendezvous). Which sends me right back to my vintage bottles. I'm wearing Samsara tonight, both the vintage eau de parfum and a generous lashing of the extrait.
Makeup
My old standbys: a rosy lip, taupe eye shadow, and lots of navy eyeliner.
Frequently Worn Item/Outfit
Lots of blue, mostly very dark, with vintage scarves as punch of color.
Food
Mary's Gone Crackers (gluten free crackers that are very flavorful and just wonderful).
Bane
Losing about 75% of my contacts when transferring them to my new phone. I was not amused.
Joy
I have some cool new photography equipment to play with.
Wishlist
A classic black trench coat.
Link
Maybe, just maybe, the end of non-disclosure is near.
Random Thought
Wake me up when Instagram makeup is dead.
How are you? What's on your list of loves and banes? Any wishes and recommendations?
Book
ReplyDeleteMore Agatha Christies in Spanish, and Time Out Madrid guide I got as a birthday present.
Music
Pet Shop Boys! Looking forward to getting the new album, which hub pre-ordered for me as a birthday present.

TV
Deutschland 83 and UEFA Champions League
Perfume
Wore either solid perfume (CdG Cinnamon) or perfume oil (DSH Tibetan Musk) when I was sick, now I've progressed to Guerlain Fleurs de Cédrat.
Makeup
MAC Relentlessly Red lippie gives me a much-needed energy boost.
Food
For some mysterious reason I was craving for potatoes during my convalescence, especially oven-roasted potato slices with garlic, lemon and herbs.
Bane
Bronchitis ruined the first two weeks of March. I'm still coughy but luckily not wheezy anymore.
Joy
Vernal Equinox and Easter are coming!
I was going to recommend Deutschland 83 too! And we're also watching UEFA!
DeletePerfume: Mandy's Wildflowers and Orchid, Lelong Orage, vintage Baghari, Le De and Ma Griffe have all been getting a lot of wear.
ReplyDeleteFood: Salsa obsession. Exploring every brand, every style. Can't get enough, have it at every meal, occasionally have it with various vegetables as an entire meal, but am happiest eating it with a spoon on its own out of the jar (DH doesn't touch the stuff - can't eat anything spicy or with tomatoes).
Joy: Over the moon with the arrival of spring. Flowers bursting out everywhere, all the trees budding out. Absolute bliss! Also delighted to have the house almost completely deep cleaned and to have managed to conquer my fear of heights enough to get up to the top of our step ladder to clean sky lights and the tops of cabinets in our kitchen. Oh, but the kitchen is not a joy. I can't help but think that the person who designed it should have their design license revoked immediately - ridiculous plan for anyone who cooks at all and no vent. Seriously, if it's not a code violation of some sort to have a new house without a kitchen vent, it should be.
Book: I believe it was in your last month's Currently that I saw Tigrushka mention reading Agatha Christie in Spanish. That immediately inspired me to go get out all my Agatha's in Spanish and have been reading them for the past month. I can appreciate Kindle, but, at heart, I'm a luddite and it makes me deeply happy to go get books off the shelves that I've had for over two decades. Old, much loved, familiar friends.
Looking forward to your post on beauty books.
Random thought: Will our feline children ever accept the Breeze litter system that our vet recommended for one of the children who has suddenly developed a very bad case of asthma? So far they're ignoring all the Breeze boxes completely, despite our following all the suggestions. Deep sigh. They do not exactly joyfully clap their paws and purr when faced with change.

My outfits have included a lot of mid tone to dark blue too. I have been loving navy blue and bought yet another navy sweater. Maybe I like blue in late winter/ spring? My joy has been crocuses, daffodils, and tree blooms. On the other hand my bane is I think those two bizarre 80 degree days in the north east caused some early blooming which isn't necessarily a good thing.
