Excellent news for those who are wary of the testers and atmosphere at Sephora and refuse to get assaulted at Barneys beauty level (I've given up on the rest of the store years ago, but now the beauty/fragrance department has become insufferable as well). Givenchy Beauty opened a standalone boutique in NYC, right on Spring and West Broadway. My friend Josie who reported the news and took the picture says that at lunch time on a weekday the place looks empty and ready for browsing without being trampled by tourists with selfie sticks.
I'm a huge fan of Givenchy lipsticks and mascara, and at some point in the past have gone through a couple of Givenchy foundation bottles (a long-gone formula, but this might be a sign I need to try some new stuff). I'm curious about their gel blush and cushion blush, so that is worth investigating.
What would you look for and swatch at the Givenchy store?

Ooooooh. Isn't there a new(ish) NARS boutique somewhere, too? I need to go explore these places in person!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to try their eyeshadows - I'm never sure if they're pigmented enough. And I really like the new Teint Couture balm foundation and concealer, which was a nice surprise.
Givenchy is one of the few lines that actually has a foundation color light enough for my fair skin, which I appreciate. They even have a shade I find too light. I've never really loved anything else from the line. Had a lipstick or two but since I rarely wore them, they got tossed.
ReplyDeleteI'm always amazed at the difference in atmosphere between the San Francisco Barney's, which is one of my favorite places to drop in and browse, and the Madison Ave store where I am usually completely and totally ignored.
I love givenchy line - their blushes, prisme libre and prisme compact. they have such a fine silky texture. mascara is great too. i fell in love with their new rouge a porter lipsticks because i like sheer color and a lot of moisture. i have to tell you i find it annoying that givenchy has such a limited distribution in the usa and we barely ever get any limited edition items. i wish i was in ny i would certainly visit the store. oh and their new teint couture balm is great too. i would completely switch to wearing givenchy only if i could convince myself to stay faithful to just one line
ReplyDeleteWe used to have a Givenchy stand in one of our department stores sadly ... no more but Sephora has opened here and we do have a small Givenchy stand there but .... OMG the prices!!!! More than Chanel . Still .... oh the lipsticks were yummy and I do love that 4 square blusher thingy! I would be in that shop in a flash but ... No Selfie Stick :)
ReplyDeleteNow that's awards season I miss your posts covering the red carpets,Gaia... :'( what do you think about Cate Blanchett's dress for the Golden Globes??
