Book
A couple of weeks ago while browsing through a vintage/antique store I spotted a familiar name on a book that was used as a staging prop: Mistral's Daughter by Judith Krantz. That brought back some memories, though not exactly of the 1982 book or the 1984 mini series, as I was not allowed to read or watch them. My old curiosity got the better of me and I bought the Kindle version right away. I'm kind of enjoying it, trying not to be too ironic about any of it, as I don't think it ever pretended to be anything other than a steamy romance novel.

Music
Gutter by Lunatic Soul

TV
The Blond and I watched a couple of Amazon pilots. I really hope that The Man In The High Castle gets a full season. It's been decades since I read the Philip K. Dick book, but the atmosphere seems accurate.

Perfume
Balenciaga pour Homme. A cheap vintage thrill.

Makeup
Neutral eye shadows, a hint of cream blush, red(dish) lips

Frequently Worn Item/Outfit
A winter coat. What else?

Food
Miniature sweet red and orange peppers. Such a great snack.

Bane
I might be allergic to Lush Rose Jam shower gel.

Joy
If you follow my Jersey Cats page on Facebook you already know that we had a big health scare with Peter, who now at nearly 14 is our oldest cat. I'm so thankful that he's alright and gaining back some weight. He's a wonderful weird little hairball.

Anticipation
Valentine's Day

Wishlist
A king size bed. Bob is a serious bed hog.

Random Thought
Why are there gummy bears in the soda of Candy Crush soda?

  4. So glad to hear that Peter is OK! And you definitely should get a king size bed to accommodate Bob. We used to have an extremely beloved smallish dog who in his old age had back problems and could no longer easily get up on our bed, so we bought a new, very low to the ground bed for him and we also replaced our couch with one that was also quite low and easy for him to get up on. Our children don't require college funds (choosing to ignore the reality of astronomical vet bills), so we don't think it's an issue to spend on stuff like this.
Book: Anthony Doeer's All the Light We Cannot See and Louise Penny's A Trick of the Light
Food: Lemons - have suddenly developed a total craving for them
Perfume: Rediscovered Ciro's Surrender and the Exotic Oriental version of Judith Muller's Bat-Sheba and am obsessing over Bogue's Maai.
Joy: Today feels like spring. Heaven! I know it won't last, but I'm living in the moment and it's bliss.

  5. Book: The Book of Life by Deborah Harkness (All Souls Trilogy, Bk. 3)

    Music: Beethoven's MIssa Solemnis--Utterly transcendental!

TV: Sleepy Hallow--I love that fun and campy free-for-all :-)

Perfume: Tom Ford's Fleur de Chine

Makeup: I've really been enjoying the look of Chanel's rosé quad in Paris with the anthracite stylo jeux in Ardoise.

Frequently Worn: Temperatures here have been bouncing up and down all week and so there's nothing that has been a staple. Yesterday I was wearing lightweight, cheerful layers and today I'm huddled up in cozy cashmere. Go figure! LOL

Food: On tonight's menu is a hearty Lebanese stew of eggplants, chickpeas, tomatoes, onion, lots of garlic and fresh cilantro served with lemon wedges and flat bread hot off the grill.

    Bane: Nope!

Joy: The quiet, peaceful walk I took early this morning up into the hills.

Anticipation: February! February is going to be chockfull of fun activities and very special people.

Wishlist: A new bronzer! LOL I haven't worn bronzer in almost two years and am feeling in the mood for a hint of summer color.

    Random Thought: Ahhh . . . ummm . . . ahhh . . . my mind just went blank :-P

  7. What I remember about Mistral's Daughter, the mini-series. They were all red-heads. (I watched at my grandmother's house - aka the land of soap operas.)

Glad the fur baby is doing better.

  8. Book
I'm currently working through Sontag's "Against Interpretation" and I'm expecting Lotringer's "Schizo Culture" (he is the editor) to arrive by the end of today.

    Music
    Lots and lots of horns.

    TV
Not TV, but yesterday I saw "Birdman" in theater and it's phenomenal. I highly recommend checking it out. I had forgotten about Michael Keaton.

    Perfume
Roja Parfums Danger pour Femme. Heartbreakingly expensive but worth it. Indolic jasmine, civet, sandalwood, and ambergris?! YES PLEEZ.

    Makeup
I'm really loving those ColourPop eyeshadows. I am so glad they released mattes yesterday, although I love the glitters and shimmers. They also have some colors in a satin finish that are just divine (Truth, for example).

    Frequently Worn Item/Outfit
    Boots. Boots and skinny jeans.

    Food
The $5 grilled chicken salad from Sunrise Mart. Cheap, filling, and makes me feel healthy for once.

    Bane
I can't say it here, but you know.

    Joy
Besides Peter being ok? =) I'm struggling right now to find some joy in my life. Yesterday was good, though! I cannot complain.

    Anticipation
I wish I could say Valentine's Day. But hm...I don't know if I'm anticipating anything.

    Wishlist
The Viseart Paris Nudes palette, Helmut Lang EDP, the Sephora Cream Lip Stain in Marvelous Mauve. A facial. A puppy.

    Random Thought
Am I the only person who looks forward to seeing their accountant every year? Mine is such a sweet guy!
