While gathering the photos for yesterday's vintage hair post, I had the chance to browse through other images I've been hoarding. This group of lipstick ads and editorial pictures is the result. Enjoy!

I've been following your blog for about a year now, and read your blog daily. Thank you for the time and effort you put into our articles, research and creativity. As far as lipstick goes: It's a small tube of luxury that most women can afford that brings an instant smile to their face.
ReplyDeleteThe old ads (and magazines) are just so much more glamorous than today's.
ReplyDeleteThe vintage ads bring back the "MAGIC" from the fragrance and cosmetics industry. Today that element seems to be missing in a big way. Please keep bringing back the "magic" for us. Really appreciate all your efforts. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteMorning Gaia,
ReplyDeleteI love the ads, especially the one with Yasmeen Ghaura, her brows were always so spectacular! Come to think of it, I used to have the Chanel Rouge Extreme lipstick, it was the most perfect blood/blue red and my very first grown up lipstick purchase.
Ads like these are why I absolutely adore and continue to collect vintage mags. And, not sure why, but I'm focusing as much on the amazing eyelashes in some of these ads as much as the lipsticks. Also really appreciate when you're able to put the names of the models since in the older print magazines I have they never do and I'm afraid I haven't really taken the time to look online for them.
ReplyDeleteThanks for this post!
Anna
Thank you for the walk through fashion and time via lipstick. And the hairstyles in the other post, too. Both were so wonderful!
ReplyDeleteCutex.....nail polish....those were the days......when I was a young girl.....in the 70s and early 80s.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the memory lane.
