DHC Q10 Moisture Care Face Powder
Most new face powders that were released recently boast light reflecting qualities and try to double as both setting and finishing products, with a strong emphasis on the polished end result (Hourglass Ambient Lighting is the extreme case of a finishing-only powder, while NARS and Laura Mercier sort of do both). In comparison, the new powder from Japanese brand DHC, Q10 Moisture Care Face Powder is a traditional setting powder, with the added benefit of skincare ingredients and the promise to moisturize and not to cause or enhance dryness.
In reality, DHC Q10 Moisture Care Face Powder is a tinted talc-base powder formulated with various interesting ingredients such as squalane and olive oil. The powder is incredibly soft and has that highly desired
melt-onto-skin quality (probably a result of the various silicones used). It really does not cake when you apply it, and I've tested it by patting or rolling, using a puff, and various brushes.
The powder is, indeed, good for setting your makeup. It doesn't add any extra coverage nor does it reflect the light in any way, for better and for worse. As long as your expectations are for a really good setting-only powder, you're golden with this one. The only thing is that in a world (or on a market) where there are so many brilliant modern formulas that give a beautiful finish, DHC Q10 Moisture Care Face Powder falls short.
Ingredients: talc, synthetic fluorphlogopite, vinyl dimethicone/methicone silsesquioxane crosspolymer, diphenyl dimethicone/vinyl diphenyl dimethicone/silsesquioxane crosspolymer, zinc myristate, phenyl trimethicone, squalane, perfluoroctyl methoxysilane, phenoxyethanol, dimethicone, hydrogen dimethicone, olea europaea (olive) fruit oil, ubiquinone, palmitoyl proline, methicone, aluminum chloride, magnesium palmitoyl glutamate, sodium palmitoyl sarcosinate, aluminum hydroxide, water/aqua/eau, palmitic acid, avena sativa (oat) kernel extract, butylene glycol, sodium acetylated hyaluronate, pentylene glycol, ceramide 3, hydrolyzed elastin, olea europaea (olive) leaf extract, ethylhexylglycerin, soluble collagen, mica/Cl 77019, titanium dioxide/Cl 77891, iron oxides/Cl77491, CI 77492, CI 77499.
