Tory Burch Divine Bronzer, Blush & Highlighter Palette

I bought this Tory Burch Divine Bronzer, Blush & Highlighter Palette the same time I ordered her Cat's Meow Lip & Cheek Tint, though the palette arrived about ten days later. After the major disappointment of the cream product I wasn't exactly at the edge of my seat waiting for the FedEx guy to drop the package with this palette. Lowering my expectations was probably a good thing, because otherwise I'd have been even more underwhelmed by Tory Burch's Divine.

The first thing I noticed was how small this bronzer/blush palette is. The outer dimensions of the square compact is under 2x2" and the actual pan is about 1 3/4". That's tiny for a face palette, making it nearly impossible impossible to pick individual colors separately with any face brush. For swatching I used a Hakuhodo 214, that's just slightly bigger than an eye brush (12mm width), and even then I couldn't keep it utterly clean, hence the  labels-- it's somewhat mixed together.

The packaging  is beyond fabulous. Tory Burch Beauty is the result of a collaboration with Estee Lauder, and no one does beautiful compacts like Lauder. The heavy orange and gold structure has an elegant logo button, and comes in an orange suede pouch with a snap closure. It really is an item for your makeup bag that will get 'wow' compliments when you take it out. I wish it was refillable.

The product itself is very very nice. All three colored powders withing are finely milled to the point of pure silk. The shimmer is almost gossamer-like so the end effect on skin is super pretty. The one issue here is  pigmentation. Once again I had to swatch pretty heavily to give you a good idea of the colors. Divine is a much better fit for the pale and fair-skinned. I can easily wear it if I build it up, but I'll venture a guess that if you're NC37-40 or higher this is decidedly not a good fit.

The blush is a peachy color in the pan (the closeup photo was taken with flash to show the shimmer, but it makes the pink look cooler than it is in real life) that reads warmer and a bit more orange on my skin even when used with a pristine brush that hardly touches the bronzer part (hard to avoid). The bronzer is of medium intensity-- pretty standard, I think, and the highlighter is a very pretty champagne. I find that it's pointless to try using this compact as a palette, so I just swirl the colors together and then add a touch of the blush alone for an extra flush. I like the result and find it attractive and easy to wear, so I'm definitely keeping this blush and putting it into good use this season, while the lip& cheek tint is going to my five year old niece for her dress-up box (she's obsessed with makeup and has the best collection a kindergartner has ever had).

Bottom Line: nice, but the best part is the packaging.

Tory Burch Divine Bronzer, Blush & Highlighter Palette  ($48) is available from Nordstrom and toryburch.com.
