Laura Mercier Foundation Primer - Protect Broad Spectrum SPF 30/PA+++ is a new addition to the brand's range of primers. I've been a long time fan of the Radiance, Mineral, and Hydrating Laura Mercier primers, but the Protect one may be my favorite one. It's not just because of the nice SPF and broad spectrum protection, as I'm not sure the amount of primer one applies is truly enough to get the full benefit (but it's a nice bonus, for sure). I'm impressed with this primer because the texture is very light and summer-friendly, yet the priming action is very impressive.
I've tested the Laura Mercier Protect Primer with a wide range of tinted moisturizers and foundations, and it worked well with everything. Base products go one smoothly over the primer, spread evenly, and they last-- even in what stands for "weather" here these days (it's more of a conspiracy to torture us, if you ask me). Even light and glowy tinted moisturizers (such as NARS) maintain their coverage and finish eight hours later (obviously, I try to limit my exposure to the elements and keep it to the few steps between car and destination whenever possible). I even think that the primer makes foundations and tinted moisturizers look better-- even more flawless, smooth, and somehow more skin-like, if that makes sense.
As for sun protection, I'm very meticulous about it and use another one under the primer, just in case. All I can say is that so far so good. For someone who gets a tan just from standing by the window, I've been doing well so far avoiding any new sun damage (and getting rid of my past sins).
Bottom Line: Love. Ask for a sample at the counter.
Laura Mercier Foundation Primer - Protect: Broad Spectrum SPF 30/PA+++ ($32, 1.7oz) is available from most decent department stores and on lauramercier.com.
Purchased last week, but sadly it did not work for me as well as her oil free primer.
ReplyDeleteOh this is nice! I'll try to get a sample since I want to know how it feels first. I've only tried a few in the past and wasn't impressed so kind of gave up.
