Chanel Fall 2013 Le Blush Creme de Chanel- Destiny

The last time Chanel released a cream blush it was part of the 2010 Collection Essentielle de Chanel Paris-L.A. palette (a very mediocre set, though the blush itself was pretty good). For Fall 2013 Chanel brings us an exciting range of six cream blushes,  Le Blush Creme de Chanel. The colors are pretty and elegant, and the texture is luxurious and easy to blend . The color tenacity is phenomenal, which is not always a given when we're talking cream blushes. The finish is matte and semi-sheer. There are no shimmery particles, and you can wear the blushes as lightly (Amy from Cafe Makeup calls it a watercolor quality and I agree) or as intensely as you desire. The texture is similar to Chanel Tan de Soleil, the popular cream bronzer (see below), which makes sense: Chane already had a winner with this texture.

Swatches-

Applied with a finger, unblended:

Blended with a blush brush (Hakuhodo 210):

Comparison between application with a dense blush brush and a duo-fiber brush:

I picked four out of the six shades Chanel is offering right now, skipping the lightest one, Inspiration (you can see it on Best Things In Beauty), and the orange one, Presage. There's nothing wrong with them, but they're simply not my colors. I'll swatch and talk about all of them, but today's post is specifically about what may be the sleeper in the bunch, Destiny. Destiny is a warm tan color that might as well be labeled a bronzer.   It adds a sun-kissed look, very appropriate for summer (well, since Chanel released this "Fall Collection" in mid-June we should have no problem rocking it all summer long).

Here's a comparison of Destiny Le Blush Creme de Chanel to the classic Chanel Tan de Soleil bronzing makeup base. You can see that the bronzer is much more gold, while Destiny is almost coppery. Those who found Tan de Soleil too yellow may want to test destiny. I like to mix them together.

Le Blush Creme de Chanel for Fall 2013 ($38) is already at some counters (Saks, Neiman, and Nordstrom) and also available online from Nordtrom.com.

  1. Oooo. . . Gaia! That's gorgeous on your skin. Destiny is definitely the sleeper and I was surprised when my wonderful Chanel gal suggested holding one aside for me when they arrive. She has an unerring eye for the colors that will work on me and thought Destiny would combine with the natural roseyness of my cheeks to produce one of those lovely not quite bronzer; not quite blusher colors. They're due at the local counter any time now, so we shall see.

    1. Eileen, having such a talented Chanel SA is priceless. The blush colors are more complex than they appear at first, so discovering what each one can do on various skin tones is fascinating

  2. Want. All. OK, maybe just four. As if I'm not enough of a cream blush junkie.

    1. I'm also addicted to cream blushes. I'm kind of thankful that one of them is simply too pale for my skin, otherwise I'd be in even more trouble.

  3. I read BTIB and it sounds like this blush may seem hard to blend (maybe she is referring to the pigmentation and how some pigmented products are inherently hard to sheer into nothingness), but if the texture is similar to Soleil Tan, then I'm sold!! Can you compare/contrast the actual ingredients of this blush w/ Soleil de Tan? Thanks!

    1. Claire, I'll see what I can do. Will have to see if I still have the Soleil box with the ingredient list. I'll probably post it in the Facebook group in a day or two.

    2. Thanks, Gaia! I do have a list of Soleil de Tan posted in my most recent blog post (not sure if I can mention it here) If you have the list of ingredients for the blush, that would suffice. Thanks for your help!
