DVF Fall 2013 looked extra promising when I saw the Fashion Week photos. I already earmarked a few looks (I add a couple of DVF classics to my wardrobe every season and wear them year after year), including Look No.30 from the runway seen here on Zoe Saldana (from her Friday night appearance on Jimmy Fallon's show). Obviously, this is a version of Diane von Furstenberg's classic wrap dress with an added keyhole neckline and more elaborate sleeves. I adore the print (there are some other great prints and patterns in this fall collection, including the one Diane herself was wearing at the end of her show). I have to say that I like Zoe in this dress a lot better than Cara Delevinge who modeled it. Zoe's Louboutins are prettier (and probably comfier. As much as I worship at the altar of DVF, the shoes are often so badly molded I can't stand in them for too long).

it's a bit ... much. Red and print and tie at the waist and insets on the sleeves and deeeep keyhole. I think you'd have to be tall and very thin to pull this on off. Way too busy for me.
ReplyDeleteIs it my aging eyes or did they pair a trendy fuschia lip with the red dress on Cara? I guess she can get away with anything. Perhaps the black shoes ground what's going on above. I do love the DVF wrap dresses-unbelievably comfortable and at my age, comfort trumps trendy, no matter how great it may look.
ReplyDeleteZoe looks GREAT - I love the print and the way it works with the style. I'm one of the few women in the universe not flattered by the DVF wrap dress, though - I know, it hardly seems possible. ~~nozknoz
ReplyDeleteLove the dress, much much more so on Zoe.
ReplyDeleteZoe looks great! Her shoes are definitely prettier than the ones in the DVF show.
ReplyDeleteI can't help finding the sleeves a little weird somehow.
Zoe brings life to the dress with her vivacious personality unlike Cara who looks like she's been sucking on lemons. I realize models aren't supposed to detract from the clothing, but there is such a disconnect between the cheerfulness of the dress and Cara's sour expression, that it distracts nonetheless. The dress is definitely too busy and too young for me, but it's striking on Zoe.
