We're going back to the beginning. Deep Lust was one of the original colors in Edward Bess' Ultra Slick lipstick range. It's still part of the collection and rightly so: the brown-based rose (I think Sephora describes it as "rusty rose") has the trendy "back to the 90s" vibe while still looking quite modern. Since the formula is not quite full coverage (at least with 1-2 swipes), it lets just enough of my natural lip color show through, which balances the brown part and actually brings out the aforementioned rusty redness.
I love the formula of Edward Bess lipsticks, and now that their back in the old magnetic tube and produced in the USA again it feels like all is well in my little lipstick world. Edward's website has also been revamped and it's easier to navigate, though I do find its performance on an iPad a bit clunky.
Edward Bess Deep Lust Ultra Slick Lipstick ($32) is available from Sephora, Bergdorf Goodman, select Neiman Marcus locations and edwardbess.com. The item in this review was a gift with purchase.
Ooh, looks like a possible color for me!
ReplyDeleteMy first Edward Bess lipstick! It's worn out nearly to a stub now. It's just a perfect nudey-brown on me :-)
ReplyDeleteI urge you to try Sonia Kashuk's new lipsticks available at Target. They're in black packaging. The finish is very similar to what I see in this picture. Roseberry, in the Kashuk line, is a favorite right now. You and I have very similar coloring, so I think you might like it.
ReplyDeleteLove his lipsticks-and am so glad he returned to his former packaging. This color is right on trend right now.
