Rouge Bunny Rouge - Luminous Skin Wand - Alula (023)

Rouge Bunny Rouge Luminous Skin Wand is a light reflecting liquid concealer. The format is similar to other topical illuminating pens such as YSL Touche Eclat or Guerlain Precious Lights, as well as playing the same field as Clinique Airbrush Concealer-- an illuminating pen that offers a little less highlighting (than Touche Eclat) and more coverage. I much prefer the formula and finish of Rouge Bunny Rouge, though, as it offers a beautiful (but subtle) radiance and good coverage.

Luminous Skin Wand comes in only two shades: Orionis (pink based) and Alula (yellow). Obviously, I had to go with Alula (#023), but I dearly wish there was a neutral third option. You can see how yellow the color looks against my arm, and I assure you: my undertones are green, not red, pink or blue. Of course, things are much more subtle when blended, and since you only need a small drop of the product and the consistency is light, I'm never left with glowing yellow patches. Still, I often use Rouge Bunny Rouge Alula either mixed with a drop of either tinted moisturizer or a white foundation, or under my other base products, just to make sure the color match is perfect.

When it comes to covering blemishes or any minor unsightlies, Luminous Skin Wand does a wonderful job. It cancels surface redness, diffuses unevenness and adds clarity where you need it. I especially love it around the nose, as it looks better than most base products and makes the area looks incredibly smooth. I'd say that Alula's yellow base is best suited for this part of the face, as it really cancels the red-to-purple discoloration of the perpetually allergy sufferer. Set with a touch of powder this concealer/illuminator stays put as long as the rest of my makeup does.

Bottom Line: a wider range of color would make this product perfect.

Rouge Bunny Rouge - Luminous Skin Wand ($32 or 32 euro) is available from beautyhabit.com, zuneta.com and rougebunnyrouge.com. The product for this review was sent to me free of charge.

  1. I also have green undertones, but am definitely not warm. I look very peachy indoors, but in the sun you can see the green, especially on my neck. It makes buying foundations very difficult!! Have you found any foundations that work with green undertones? I find "olive" tends to mean warm, which I am not. BTW, pink concealers are great for me - they mask my blue/brown undereye circles.
