Dior Cruise Diorshow Mono Eyeshadow
Saks 5th Avenue has five new colors of Diorshow Mono Eyeshadows. Unlike the first batch of Diorshow Mono, there are a few decidedly non-neutral colors in this group. I was only interested in one, though, this pale aqua shade called Cruise.
Cruise is the same wet/dry formula of the other Diorshow Mono Eyeshadows, and has a satin texture and micro-shimmer finish. All is well, really, except for a shockingly low color payoff. You absolutely need a creamy base to trap the pigment, and unless your eyelids are very pale so any color shows up on you clearly, you'd need to use a damp brush. My dry swatch required a lot of product. I first started with a Shu Uemura brush but switched to a sponge applicator just to make it show in the picture. The wet swatch (with a Sephora synthetic brush) was easier and that's how I'd use this Dior eye shadow on my lid (along the lash line, most likely).
The color itself looks a bit icy (might be too white-based for some) and has the advantage of looking either summery or mid-winter appropriate, depending on what you pair it with and the overall makeup look. Obviously, it goes well with many other Diorshow colors: Nude or Choc Clair are an easy match, while the almost peachy Grege gives it a beachy twist.
Bottom Line: Below expectations.
Dior Cruise Diorshow Mono Eyeshadow ($29) is available from Saks, online and at the counters.
