I picked Patyka Absolis Body Wash Iris Woods Bois d’Iris on
a whim, because the name sounded beautiful and I was craving a bath/body treat
as the weather gets colder. It didn’t hurt that the outer packaging is pretty
and the bottle is an elegant addition to one’s shower. Also: iris! I love iris.
The scent of Patyka’s Iris Wood is, indeed, wonderful.
It’s smooth, warm and slightly musky (in a clean way). This body wash is a good
companion to low-key iris fragrances such as Infusion d’Iris (Prada) or Bois d’Iris
(The Different Company). While the scent doesn’t linger much beyond the first
few minutes after the shower, it’s an uplifting luxury while it lasts.
Patyka is a French company that specializes in 100% organic
products. It’s a celebrity favorite (Miranda Kerr, Gwyneth Paltrow), offers a
full line of face and body products with a very Parisian spa flair. I’m curious
about several other items in their line, such as a the body oil and a couple of
face creams and oils. I do find, however, that the Patyka Absolis body wash is
too drying for my cuir de crocodile in this weather. Even my back felt dry and
itchy after showering and I had to marinate myself in body oil to restore the
balance.
Bottom Line: Talk to me next summer.
Patyka Absolis Body Wash Iris Woods Bois d’Iris ($45) is
available from Dermstore.
