Celeste Holm quotes:
"I believe that if a man does a job as well as a woman, he should be paid as much."
"We live by encouragement and die without it - slowly, sadly, angrily."
[on Bette Davis] "I walked onto the set [of "All About Eve"] and there's Bette and I say 'Good Morning,' and she said, 'Oh, shit, good manners,' and I felt as if I'd been hit in the face with a wet flounder and I never spoke to her again."
"The trouble with putting armour on is that, while it protects you from pain, it also protects you from pleasure."Photos: listal.com, oscars.org
Oh my! I hadn't heard. She certainly accomplished a lot in her 95 years both in the performing arts and in philanthropy. She was a Grand Dame in every sense. Rest in peace, Celeste, and may your star shine bright in heaven.
ReplyDeletevery sad to hear of this! when i was in nyc in may, i actually sat at the table next to her at a restaurant. she was wearing a pink chanel suit and the charm and beauty just radiated from her.
ReplyDeletei love her in "oklahoma" (1943), "the tender trap" (1953), "high society" (1956), "tom sawyer" (1973) and "the love boat" (1979/1984).
