March is long gone, but the weather is all about rain and damp earth, heavy drops on new leaves and an intoxicating smell of newness in the air. Christopher Brosius has captured it in the most realistic way in his Black March perfume, but unlike many of his literal fragrances this CB I Hate Perfume creation is not just easy to wear but also pleasing and inviting.
Black March is part of CB's Metamorphosis series, focusing on transition and change. You can actually smell the movement and the anticipation in the air. The damp earth is almost tactile, you can smell and feel it in your hands, from the rotting leaves to the moment you recoil at what may or may not be an earthworm. The surprise here is how wonderful Black March smells on human skin. Dare I say it's sexy? I guess I just did. It's hard to explain, other than that CB captured an emotional and evocative moment, and managed to bottle the cold and dampness as well as warmth and life. The result is a sensation that sends a shiver up one's spine.
The twigs, leaves, and mossy notes are very realistic. You can see the colors just as easily as you can feel them in your hands and hear the twigs and leaves swoosh under your galoshes. It makes me want to go out and play.
Notes: Rain Drops, Leaf Buds, Wet Twigs, Tree Sap, Bark, Mossy Earth
