"Women dress alike all over the world: they dress to be annoying to other women", -- Elsa Sciaparelli
One of the most interesting job opening in the fashion world at the moment is the head designer for the upcoming revival of the Parisian house Schiaparelli. Apparently, an Italian business mogul, Diego Della Valle bought the trademarks and archives of Elsa Schiaparelli in May 2006 and he's ready to relaunch: the new designer will be selected and announced by September. The first products are slated for show in February. The emphasis is going to be on the big money makers: accessories, fragrances and cosmetics, and only some clothing in the mix. It makes sense from a business viewpoint, but for now I'm keeping my expectation low, until proven otherwise. Since the designer was famous for her hats, I'll be very happy to see something Duchess of Cambridge-worthy.
