NARS Calabria Soft Touch Shadow Pencil
NARS Soft Touch Shadow Pencil is a somewhat controversial product. Not all pencils in this range were created equal, and some, like the chartreuse one in Celebrate really suck. The colors of these chubby shadow pencils are beautiful and the texture is eye friendly and easy to apply, but the pliable formula is not very long-lasting in some cases and is a bit high maintenance: it needs a primer, but also a powder eye shadow to grab onto. The general consensus is that the more shimmery pencils are the better ones.
The new Soft Touch Shadow Pencil from NARS summer collection is called Calabria and is a gorgeous plum shade. It's shimmery, but not as much as the better ones such as Aigle Noire and Dark Rite. The result is that I can make it work quite nicely on my upper lid, but using Calabria on my lower lashes ends up with big mess. It's a shame, really, because the medium color intensity is exactly what I like to have on the bottom lashes.
Bottom Line: half-baked.
NARS Calabria Soft Touch Shadow Pencil ($24) is available at the counters and from narscosmetics.com. The product was sent for my consideration by the company.
I like the idea and colors of these pencils but I really don't want to do more than apply a primer to keep it from moving. If I have to use a powder, that just takes away from the vivid color I like. Too bad because this a favorite shade for me.
ReplyDeleteA NARS artist applied this on me over the weekend. She put it on top of the eyeshadow I was already wearing (I had on the Kalahari duo). I like the color a lot but it had migrated to my upper lids within 2 hours so I ended up not buying. Too bad.
