I'm scheduling this post to be published while I'm attending tonight's FiFi Awards gala. It's a formal event (black tie optional), and while my dress is cocktail-length (a better fit for someone my height and proportions), I'm thinking about makeup, accessories and fragrance that are all about glamour. Here's a quick list of perfumes that as far as I'm concerned go well with an evening gown. In no particular order:
1. Guerlain Mitsouko and Shalimar. You can't beat the classics, especially in extrait.
2. Vero Profumo- Onda. It takes no prisoners.
3. Amouage anything, but especially Lyric Woman.
4. JAR Diamond Water. The name says it all.
5. Panthere de Cartier (extrait layered with the the EDP), because I wore it for my wedding.
6. Tango by Aftelier, for a mysterious air.
7. Robert Piguet Fracas, because it's the queen of tuberose. Get your date to wear Bandit.
8. Mona di Orio Nuit Noire. Of course.
9. Serge Lutens Cuir Mauresque. This is what Uncle Serge wears when he's out on the prowl. Good enough for me.
10. Tauer Un Rose Chypree. Opulent and romantic, even if you're wearing three pairs of Spanx.

Those are great choices, but what about the following?

Chanel Bois des Iles
Serge Lutens Tuberose Criminelle
Divine Divine or Divine L;ame Soeur

Was going through the list thinking about mentioning Fracas here, and then you had it there! Nice!
ReplyDeleteLovely list, I adore Panthere. I'd add Chanel No 22 (preferably vintage) and DSH's Pandora.
ReplyDeleteNo thoughts at this point as to what you should wear, fragrance wise, sorry... all i keep wondering about is: what perfumes are perched on the washbasin in the picture?? Given that the model is wearing Piguet, i am sure it must be one of his perfumes, but which ones?? Cheers, Wendy
ReplyDeleteLucky you, enjoy! Years ago I worked for a Belgian glass company that manufactured bottles and jars for high-end perfumes and cosmetics. I went to two FIFI Awards. They were fun and glamorous, very exciting for someone who had never been to a formal event before. I will add Ungaro's Diva to the list of evening-gown fragrances.
ReplyDeleteLove this! I think Diamond Water was the perfect choice for the evening.
ReplyDeleteI had to laugh when I read your comment about Une Rose Chypre. I'd never even wear one Spanx; much less three! LOL. I do; however, wear this lovely fragrance by Andy Tauer. It's one of my favorites.
