Laura Mercier Metallic Crème Eye Colour in Alloy deserves a lot more love and hype than it gets. After all, this is a gorgeous shimmery taupe color that stands alone or as a companion to regular powder shadow. One of the things I love best about Laura Mercier cream eye shadows is the incredibly light texture. This is what makes it possible to apply the product in very thin layers, which is the key for a long lasting and very polished look.
The color of Laura Mercier's Alloy is sure to delight taupe lovers everywhere. It's perfectly neutral and works in endless combinations, including as a quick wash on the lid with nothing but an eyeliner for company (try a navy one). The cream can be applied with your pinky finger or with a MAC 217 (my preferred method), and is wonderfully low maintenance.
Bottom Line: excellent.
Laura Mercier Metallic Crème Eye Colour ($22) is available at the counters, Sephora and lauramercier.com.
I have been hoping someone would review these! I keep needing a nudge to go try these shadows out. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThey are indeed excellent. I have been wearing this shade for a few years now, and love it. It is a real staple.
ReplyDeleteIs Alloy still sold? I could have sworn it had been discontinued. Anyway, I agree that Alloy is a hall-of-famer. I prefer my cream eyeshadows to come in a tube instead of a pot because they last longer. I also find this color to be very much like LM's powder eyeshadow in Topaz.
ReplyDeleteI love this eyeshadow, it lasts all day and looks beautiful on lids. I love Laura Mercier's makeup, there is no flash/hype and the products perform better than anything on the market.
ReplyDeleteI did not have success with this formula, which is a shame because I absolutely loved the color. I found it to be quite greasy and even with eye primer (UDPP) it creased terribly within a few hours. I tried it about three times before giving up and taking it back. It was so sad because the color in the tube is lovely.
