The latest from Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics are the Luminous Crème Blushes that were released for spring 2012. They come in four colors that are quite light and sheer. The one I was sent, Tropical Glow, might be the boldest one, yet as you can see, it's quite delicate. When blended onto the cheekbones, Tropical Glow Luminous Crème Blush is right on the line between a blush and a highlighter. If you're any darker than me, this new Youngblood product will probably serve more as a tinted highlighter than an actual blush.
The texture of Youngblood's cream blush is quite shimmery. It looks a bit scary in my heavy unblended swatch, but applied correctly, it is no more of a shimmer bomb that the gorgeous Laura Mercier Face Illuminator. I wear it on its own during the day and love the sheer and almost nude glow, but it can also be fortified with a powder blush: my Youngblood blush in Blossom is a perfect companion.
The application directions on Youngblood's website tell us to use our fingers to blend. A big part of why fingers work so well is that they warm the blush a little and make it softer and easier to blend. However, the brush addicts among us will also find that a very stiff flat top brush does an excellent and more hygienic job. I use Julie Hewett's Cheekie brush with perfect results.
Bottom Line: my constant companion these days.
Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics Luminous Crème Blush ($27) is available from Henri Bendel NYC store (they have a fully stocked counter that can keep one entertained for quite a while) and from ybskin.com. The product was sent to me free of charge by the company's PR.
