Givenchy Elegant Taupe 14 Le Prisme Mono Eyeshadow

I was a little disappointed at first with Elegant Taupe (14) from Givenchy's Le Prisme Mono Eyeshadow range. On my skin it appears more like a very saturated beige than a real taupe, and the color is very mellow and almost nude. However, between the exquisite Givenchy texture and the inherent elegance of this color I've been reaching it more and more as a base for many neutral looks, an all over color and as a blending shade that brings things together and smooths the line between contrasting shades.

Givenchy Le Prisme Mono Eyeshadow combines four different finishes of a single color. The various finishes are less distinct in Elegant Taupe and far more striking in the darkest ones (Dressy Indigo and Showy Black provide a better example of this. But you get a matte and three levels of shimmer that can be worn alone or mixed together. The texture is silky smooth and adheres beautifully to the skin. A good primer makes it stay in place and maintains the delicate finish. I've been pairing Le Prisme Mono with other Givenchy eye shadows I have as well as with other brands, all with great results.

Bottom Line: not taupe but still a work horse.

Givenchy Elegant Taupe 14 Le Prisme Mono Eyeshadow ($29) is exclusive to Sephora.

  1. I headed to Sephora today to try this and I'm so glad I did. The texture is quite nice-very smooth and velvety. I purchased the Taupe and Khaki, it will be fun to mix and match with other colors. I think the taupe will pair quite well with NARS Aigle Noir and Chanel's Vert Khaki.
