I bought Giorgio Armani Maestro Liquid Eye Liner based on swatching and testing at the counter. The sturdy felt tip of the pen was easy to maneuver and the dramatic deep black color promised definition and intensity. The thing is, that it's not as eyelid friendly and I find myself struggling to achieve fluency and persistence every time I reach for Armani's Maestro liner.
It's nearly comical. I grab the pen, get started lining my lash line, mutter a curse, check the pen by doodling on my hand or wrist, see that it's perfectly fine, go back to the eye, curse again, bite my lip and proceed until I get a semi-decent result. The next day I use my LMdB eyeliner and all is well in the world.
It appears that Armani Maestro really doesn't like eye primers, so I make sure to keep the base coat away from the lash line. Still, even on a naked eyelid this pen doesn't perform as well as it does on my hand. It's a shame, really, since the formula is so smooth, dark and durable I would have loved to use it every day.
Bottom Line: a bust.

I have the same problem with the Chanel waterproof eyeliners. They make a beautiful line on my hand but I'd have to poke out my eye to try to make them "write" on my eyelid.

ReplyDeletewow that's crazy, for me it was SO easy to use and it applied nicely... and I used an eye primer (too faced shadow insurance). it stayed put all day. sorry it didn't work out for you :(
