Andy Tauer's Advent Calendar Giveaway

What's better than cookies and photos of cats and dogs with reindeer antlers? Andy Tauer's Advent Calendar Giveaway!

Yes, it's that time of the year again. The rules are simple: You leave a comment on this post answering the question below. A winner will be randomly picked tomorrow. The prize for said lucky winner: He or she will get to choose a full bottle from any fragrance that Andy sells on tauerperfumes.com or a bottle of Miriam, the Tableau de Parfums scent, or the Cologne du Maghreb.
Andy ships the prize to the winner worldwide, so the advent calendar is open to all, no matter where you live.

Here's the question: What was the first perfume (or the first one you remember) getting as a Christmas/Hanukkah gift? Do you still wear it?

  1. I don't think I ever got a perfume as a christmas gift - I usually get perfumes for my birthday which is just two months before Christmas. Happy holidays, Gaia and thank you and Andy for this lovely giveaway. x

  2. Princesse Marina De Bourbon - and I am still in love with it!

  3. No idea on perfume gift for Christmas, but I remember my dad bringing back a bottle for me from Paris when I was young. Wish I knew what it was. It was cylindrical with a brown cap, and maybe a red strip around the bottom of the cap. It smelled masculine to me. He brought my sister L'Air du Temps.

  4. Le Feu d'Issey which I used to wear exclusively in the Winter before I discovered the joys of wearing many many more.

  5. If you don't count the Avon "for little girl" type colognes, then the first real perfume I received as a Christmas was Halston, in 1972. I think that I would wear it if I found a good vintage bottle at a decent price.

  6. I only remember ever getting one perfume for Christmas from my boyfriend.
Eau Sublime by Rue Rance and I still wear it occasionally, there's not much left.

  7. my first was Y by YSL ,with 14,from my beloved grandmother,i don't wear it anymore, but i do smell the bottle sometimes to bring back memories, with 22 i got feminite du bois n it never left me,still wearing it...20 years later...

  8. My first perfume was a birthday gift when I was 14. My birthday is today, so it's pretty close to Christmas ;)It was Azzaro. I don't use it anymore, but still think it's a great perfume...

  9. I started out "classy"! lol! My first Christmas perfume (come to think of it, I think it was a cologne) was when I was five-years old. A family member bought me a bottle of Avon's "Daisies Won't Tell" for little girls. Needless to say I felt like a princess, but my tastes have changed a bit since then! Thank you both for the giveaway; this brought back a fun memory!

  10. I never got perfume as a Christmas gift either, but I'm hoping that changes this year! (Well, it should help that my wishlist was composed entirely - minus one idea - of perfume-related wishes!)

  11. Ohh, I don't remember. Absolutely not. Mightbe it was Charlie by Revlon but I am not sure. Cureent version is unfortunately nothing like it was before. Thx for entering me. Alica - [email protected]

  12. Chloe, when I was around 10years old. I lived in South America and my Dad had given me one of those fragrance inserts (in the cellophane wrap)that used to be sent with credit card bills and I was hooked!!

    ReplyDelete
  13. My mother-in-law got me a gift set of Red Door a few years ago. I think that's the first fragrance I ever got. (I do not care for it, but don't tell her!)

    Happy holidays, Gaia and Andy.

  14. Acqua di Gio, and I no longer wear it.

  15. I'm not sure I ever got a perfume for Christmas; the closest must be my B-day, which is today. so if this counts, the first perfume given to me was Elle by YSL. I was wearing it actively while it lasted but I never go for the same scent twice, so never attempted wearing it since.

    Merry Christmas!

    ReplyDelete
  16. Can't remember the first perfume for Christmas. But I received a bottle of Gucci Guilty Pour Homme from my cousin. Probably not my cup of tea but still appreciate it nonetheless!

    ReplyDelete
  17. I've only once had perfume as a Christmas gift (from someone else rather than from myself to myself) and it was Idylle. It made me feel bad because I knew the donor had extended themselves financially to afford it but it simply isn't something I would ever wear. I told her I loved it but it got sold on Ebay. Now if only it had been one of Andy's wonderful creations...

  18. It was Sweet Honesty by Avon - given to me by a first boyfriend - I definitely don't wear it anymore!

    ReplyDelete
  19. Sure I remember, it was "Eau de Lancome"! Sometimes i wear it, but today it's different, almost not remained nothing of the famous 1969's scent.

  20. Don't laugh! When I was about six, someone gave me a Tinkerbell perfume set. I think there were four different flower centered water perfumes. I remember the orange blossom best, though I thought they all smelled awful. I kept wearing them, because I wanted to be magical, like the fairies!

Thanks for reminding me of that, and for hosting Andy Tauer's Advent drawing. I wish you joy here at Christmas, and always. Be well.

  21. I guess it was Anais Anais and nope I haven't sniffed it for quite a long time.

Happy holidays Gaia! Also thank you and Andy for the givaway!

  22. It was Lauren, and sadly I no longer wear it because the new reformulation is dreadful.

Thanks to Andy for the giveaway, and to you for hosting it!

    ReplyDelete
  23. It was a bottle of 4711 eau de cologne, when I was quite young! Don't even know if it's still available...
Thanks again for the chance - it's becoming a lovely christmas ritual!!

  24. When I was thirteen my aunt gave me a bottle of Vol de Nuit for Christmas. I had never smelled it before but I thought it sounded so romantic and I declared this is the scent for me. And I did end up loving it, I felt so sophisticated wearing it!

    ReplyDelete
  25. this will date me significantly, but my first scent as a Christmas gift was Polo Crest.

    ReplyDelete
  26. i don't remember exactly but, my grandma gave me a box set of enjoli, which i don't wear, ever, and my brother gave me a bottle of estee lauder pleasures one year, which i would still wear, if i had any left!

  27. The first perfume I ever got was Shalimar from my fathe when I was very young. YES! I absolutely still wear it and especially love the Shalimar Ode a la Vanille. Happy Holidays!! Thanks Andy for another fun Calendar!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Last year I got Un Lys Serge Lutens and a bunch of Amouage minis. I still wear everything:) But I was wise enough to write a letter to Santa listing all of them:)
Before that I never got perfume as a gift.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I'm not sure...it might have been Ma Griffe. I haven't smelled it in so long that I'm not sure if I would still like it. Also, am guessing it has changed from all those years ago.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I got Alien one year. Yes, I still wear it (but not when I'm going to be in closed spaces with others- it packs a sillage punch!).

    ReplyDelete
  31. No gifts of fragrance...ever!? I prefer to think that no one thought I needed it, *). but do remember playing with miniature perfume bottles and having my own store. Off topic, but a good memory to dredge up. Thanks for the holiday spirit!

    ReplyDelete
  32. I'm not sure...maybe Ma Griffe? I haven't smelled it in so long, I'm not sure if I would still like it. Also, guessing it has changed since I first tried it many years ago.

    ReplyDelete
  33. The first perfume I ever got as a Christmas gift: well, it was two perfumes - Avon Pavi Elle and Avon Sweet Honesty. I was...three or four? I still have bottles of them, for the memories =)

Happy holidays, big sis! I'm sending you and The Blonde my love. And thank you to Andy for the giveaway! xoxoxo

  34. Fahrenheit from my mum in 1994. I felt so suave! Makes me laugh now to think of how I choked people with it, I used so much! Always have a bottle at hand, though it's Fahrenheit Absolute these days.

    ReplyDelete
  35. The first one I remember was Bakir by Germaine Monteil. Lovely resinous, dark, smokey, incensey oriental. Much too mature for my late teen years in the 1970s, but I loved it. I imagined it smelled like a clean but well-lived-in yurt on the Mongolian plains. I'm sure yurts don't really smell that good. It has been discontinued for years. I have an original recipe recreation, but it's not quite the same.

  36. Nice blog good sound advice about Ebay and about perfumes JohnC

  37. My first perfume gift ever was actually when I was 16 or so. My older sister gave me $40 and told me to go to a local perfume store and pick something I liked. I was shocked at how expensive perfume is, even though I was only looking at what now seem like cheap department store lines.

    Eventually I chose Just Cavalli Her, a super-sweet pink thing. About what you'd expect from a first-time perfumer, I guess. ^^;

    ReplyDelete
  38. YSL Paris! My ex husband got it for me and I loved it at the time. I find it a too sweet now, but I do like the peony in it.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I remember being gifted with Dune in the mid nineties. Actually not bad for a gift from distant relations, however, I was perhaps a bit young for it at that time, and I think it might have got away in a house or country move since. I would wear now if I was gifted a bottle, but there are way too many things on my wishlist now, to go and purchase this one myself:-)
Thank you for the Advent Calendar to both you and Andy and Happy Holidays

    ReplyDelete
  40. I have got "Schwarzer Samt" (Black velvet - one of the better fragrances in formerly East-Berlin). It was to heavy, and so I'm lucky, that it does not longer exist :-)

    ReplyDelete
  41. Oh, this will really date me! This question was like a time machine, taking me back to junior high. Since I was the oldest of six, my perfume was left by "Santa" - a bottle (hot pink plastic covered) of Dana's Ambush. I don't still wear it (I imagine it's been changed beyond all recognition), but years later, when I first smelled Obsession, I thought it was Ambush!

    Thanks for hosting!

    ReplyDelete
  42. It was not exactly on Christmas, but my first fragrance was Vetiver by Guerlain, the old formulation.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I got Miss Dior from a french boyfriend once, very long ago. He was such a romantic and always bought perfume,or jewellry for gifts - how lovely! My husband is more down to earth and these days I have to buy myself the perfume I want - my latest full bottle being Like This/Tilda Swinton by Etat Libre d'Orange. On the other hand I know I get what I like that way!

    Happy Christmas everyone!

    ReplyDelete
  44. I never got perfume as a Christmas gift until I started asking for it. So the first was PdN Odalisque (which is awesome). Happy Holidays!

    ReplyDelete
  45. Well, that was a very long time ago for me, but I'm thinking it must have been Love's Baby Soft and no, I don't wear this anymore, not even sure if it's still around!

It may have even been an Avon fragrance but don't ask me which one. My mom used to sell Avon when we were young. I can remember one of the bottles very distinctly which was like a little Hawaiian doll, but the fragrance, I really have no idea.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Ralph Lauren Polo, age 13. My uncle (a RL Corp executive) gave me and my three siblings each a "swag bag" full of RL merchandise as a holiday gift. Our house reeked of Polo for YEARS. I can't wear it now. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  47. As a girl, I received for several Times the Borsari tin boxes full of minis of different scents: their popular Violetta di Parma, but also sandalwood, jasmine, lily... Too bad they don't make them any more!
The tin boxes were wonderfully art deco, each mini was beautiful, with a ribbon, and you could use a funnel and a larger bottle to mix the essences...

I still have some, and the perfumes still smell good. though they are no vintage Shalimar, of course. ;)

Thank you and Andy for the draw!

    ReplyDelete
  48. Never gotten a straight-up perfume as a holiday gift. But there have been plenty of scented bath... suites? clusters? over the years.

The one I really remember smelling was some bath and body works peony-rose stuff as a teen. Yay, peonies and roses are pretty, so smelling like them makes you smell pretty, right? As a teenager, that makes a lot of sense. As an adult, I can't stand that whiny, simpering, high-pitched smell of peonies in a perfume.

  49. Karen from OaklandDecember 23, 2011 9:33 AM

I've never received perfume for Christmas, but I have for my birthday which is also in December. When I was 17, my mom gave me Chanel 19. It was a big deal since my mom's favorite perfume is #5. I loved the silver and gold container (I still have it. It was refillable). I received a 2nd in the form of a refill and wore this perfume, exclusively until I was 21. Ok, that was 24 years ago! :)

    ReplyDelete
  50. I think it was Love Lemon. I was in 7th grade and thought it the height of sophistication.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Hmm it may have been Estee Lauder Pleasures when I was around 13, though it may have been a birthday gift!

    ReplyDelete
  52. I reeived my first gift of perfume in college - it was Caswell Massey's Cologne de Cucumbre. I still enjoy it a lot, though I make most of my own scents now.

    ReplyDelete
  53. I think Preferred Stock was the first cologne I got in that akward adolescence phase. My goodness how tastes have changed since then!

    ReplyDelete
  54. I've never received perfume as a gift neither for Xmas nor for any other occasion for that matter - I used to work in a perfumery, so perhaps nobody dares to pick me one.

    ReplyDelete
  55. I was 11 and my older sister got me a bottle of Hero.

    ReplyDelete
  56. I've never gotten perfume as a gift, but when I was little my mom gave me an almost empty bottle of her old Diorissimo. It smelled awesome!

    ReplyDelete
  57. OMG! I can't believe I still remember this so clearly! Back in the mid 80's Chatelaine Magazine published an article suggesting perfumes for each of the sun signs, and then one they suggested for me was Anais Anais (Gemini). I think the article must have been right around Christmas because that was THE thing I wanted that year.
I also liked the choice for Cancer (Chloe - the way they USED to make it) so I bought that too with some allowance money I had saved.
Mom thought it was scandalous to have two bottles going at once. Now it's, like, 100 (counting all samples, decants and FB's).
'Loved that article. Thanks for asking the question! And thanks for hosting the draw!

  58. Charlie - from one of my neighbors that I babysat for.

Thanks for hosting and happy holidays!

  59. Okay, this is sad - I have never received perfume as a gift.

    ::hangs head and shuffles away::

  60. The first was Black XS by Pacco Rabanne, I don't wear this anymore...well, I never weared that, so stinky in my opinion. This Christmast I want Mona di Orio's Cuir, really, WANT!

    ReplyDelete
  61. Balenciaga's Le Dix and Quadrille, in tiny bottles in a box. I don't wear them anymore, only because where I live they are hard to find. But I have seen them around from time to time. They were superb!

    ReplyDelete
  62. It was Sander for Men by Jil Sander. It was not just my first Christmas-present-fragrance, but also my first fragrance in general. But I don't own a bottle today so I dont wear it anymore.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Wind Song, in the big glass crown shaped bottle. It's still one of my favorite scents.

    ReplyDelete
  64. John Varvatos Vintage - Only worn it 2 or 3 times :(

    ReplyDelete
  65. I have never received perfume as a gift for Christmas. Considering the Magi with Frankincense and Myrrh, I suppose that is a bit unusual. Amour Amour was the second perfume after Shalimar with which I fell in love. I was fifteen and I could not get enough of it. Today it is simply a shadow of itself. I am lucky today to have four bottles of Tauer perfume.

    ReplyDelete
  66. The first perfume getting as a Christmas gift was Nina Nina Ricci. I do not wear it in recent years. Interests have changed.:)

    ReplyDelete
  67. I got a bottle of Pavlova (Payot), when I was 16. After I reached my 20s I began exploring lots of other scents so I no longer wear it but I have good memories. Thanks again to you for the contest! Happy holidays

    ReplyDelete
  68. Wow! Jessica McClintock. I was 15 and had just taken my first trip to the McClintock outlet in San Francisco that spring. I begged my mom for it when I saw it at Macy's and it became my "signature scent" until I graduated from high school.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Babe by Faberge was my first fragrance I remember receiving. I begged my aunt for it and would love to still have some. You could find it in any drugstore back then. Thanks for hosting this giveaway and for Andy's generosity.

    ReplyDelete
  70. my first ever perfume gift was 'l'aiment' by Coty in a gift box set when in eary teens...

    ReplyDelete
  71. the first fragrance I ever got was Brut! was given to me as a gift as a teenager, it was not cool!

    ReplyDelete
  72. When I was very young, my parents would put mini aftershaves in my stocking (usually Brut or Aquavelva), but the first real bottle of fragrance I got for Christmas was Raw Vanilla. To my junior high self it seemed rich and sensual, though I was a little embarrased that I didn't smell like all the other boys.

Thanks for the draw, and happy holidays!

    ReplyDelete
  73. I believe it was when I was 16 or 17 and it was a bottle of Forever and Ever by Dior. It was pink, happy, and floral so very appropriate for me back then. If the perfume was still being made I would definitely keep a bottle around for nostalgic purposes.

    ReplyDelete
  74. I don't think I ever received perfume as a Christmas gift. Maybe for my birthday - I do recall getting a bottle of Angel Innocent years ago, which I had specifically requested. I don't wear that anymore, but I sniffed it recently and it isn't so bad.

    ReplyDelete
  75. I've never received a perfume for christmas. I got Andy's Orris for my birthday once and it remains my absolute favorite perfume of all time.
Thanks for hosting the giveaway. rachel h

  76. It's either Lady Stetson or a gift box of Jean Nate with powder and fragrance -- can't remember which came first, but both happened around middle school. Shortly thereafter, it was Primo, then Liz Claiborne...yes, I went to school in the 80s.

No, I don't wear any of these any more. ;-) I think I'm getting a bottle of Dzing this year -- much better.

    ReplyDelete
  77. I don't recall what I've ever gotten, but I remember when I was about 12 or 13 my sister (two years older) got Lauren, which was all the rage for a high school girl in the early '80s.

    ReplyDelete
  78. I can't really remember, but it was probably either Evening in Paris, or something from Avon!

    ReplyDelete
  79. Ralph Lauren's 'Lauren'

I still have the bottle, but don't wear it any more. :)

    Happy Holidays!

    ReplyDelete
  80. As a little girl, my first perfume gift was Love's Baby Soft, and I think it may have been in a set with other Love's fragrances, but the original was the one I made "mine."

As an adult, it was two Christmases ago when my mom gifted me the JHAG purse bullets for Citizen Queen. But only because I asked for them :)

    ReplyDelete
  81. You can tell I'm a child of the '80s since my first "adult" gift of perfume was Obsession. My brother got it for me, and I remember being so pleased when my mother pronounced that it smelled good on me. I no longer wear it, but when I occasionally smell it, it takes me back immediately to being that awkward teenager who wanted so desperately to be grown up.

    ReplyDelete
  82. My first perfume was Anaïs Anaïs by Cacharel and it made me feel really special.

I follow your blog almost every day.

  85. I might have gotten Bath and Body Works Cherry Blossom in high school about 10 years ago. I must say, it is still my favorite scent from that store for soaps and lotions.

    ReplyDelete
  86. I am sure I received many before this- but the furthest back I can remember is a bottle of Armani Emporio She from a boyfriend about 12 years ago. It is not a perfume I still wear (and he is long long gone as well!) Happy Holiday everyone and thanks for the chance to win!

  87. The first perfume I ever got for myself was Cacharel's Anais Anais. I still have a bottle and love it.

  88. Jessica McClintock, very strong, cannot stand it today, but liked it at the time.

    ReplyDelete
  94. My best friend once bought me a Christmas gift-set of YSL Paris lotion, scrub and soap, and I have eked out that lotion so I still have it. I love YSL Paris dearly, with the added bonus that it reminds me of my friend.

  95. I did not grow up celebrating Christmas, and usually the perfumes I received I received in a very prosaic way: my mother will try something on and say, "This I don't like. Here, you have it". ( this is the way I got my first bottles of Poison, Yvresse, and #5). The very first perfume given to me for Christmas was just two Christmases ago when I was falling down the rabbit hole as we call it these days. And Alien it was. My husband surprised me with it. I barely wear it anymore, but I keep it. Of course.

    ReplyDelete
  96. My first gift perfume was white shoulders. I do not wear it now.

    ReplyDelete
  97. I think the first I ever received was Tabu. I don't still wear it. Is it still out there? Gaia, I hope your holidays are as wonderful as you are!

    ReplyDelete
  98. My first perfume as a Christmas gift was L'air du Temps by Nina Ricci: I felt so proud whe I opened the box, it's a beautiful memory!

    ReplyDelete
  99. I hardly ever get perfume as a present, probably because those who know me well think I have enough perfume to last me several lifetimes. But several years ago my husband, who knows me best of all, gave me a bottle of Attrape Coeur. Of course I still wear it. In fact, I think I will wear it today.

  101. I don't remember ever getting perfume as a Christmas gift... it may have happened sometime when I was young. I do have a bottle of Eau Sauvage that comes from the 70s or 80s, which I presume my mother gave me, but I don't know in what circumstances. I do still use that.

Thanks to you and Andy for the chance to win!

    ReplyDelete
  102. Wow! What a great giveaway and a flood of wonderful memories. It was in the 80's and I cannot remember which one I received first but it was either Jordache (in a purple bottle I believe) or Whisper of Musk (by Coty?). I do not wear either of them anymore but have fond memories of both. Thanks Gaia and happy holidays!

    ReplyDelete
  103. I don;t know if it was for Christmas, but I was given a bottle of avon something in a dride shaped bottle when i was very young. I have no idea what it smelled like at ALL, but my guess is no, I would never wear it now.
The first perfume I bought for myself was Tatiana when I was 14, I send away for a sample bottle in the mail. I wanted to love it because my friends did, but I loathed it.

    ReplyDelete
  104. I can't remember whether I got Canoe, or whether I just desperately hinted for it.

    ReplyDelete
  105. When I was about 10 years old, my great aunt gave me a bottle of Coty Muguet des Bois for Christmas. I felt so grown up having my own bottle of perfume! I have heard that the current formulation is dreadful, even for the bargain basement price, but vintage bottles are readily available on eBay, and I still wear it sometimes when I want just a light scent.

    ReplyDelete
  106. The first perfume I got as a Holiday gift is Light Blue. It's nice, but not my favourite. I still have it and I still wear it.

    ReplyDelete
  107. The first fragrances I remember getting are the Avon solid perfume brooches, Babe and Coty Musk. I don't wear any of them now, though I would love the opportunity to sniff them again. Happy holidays to all!

    ReplyDelete
  108. The first perfume that I received as a Christmas gift was Kenneth Cole Black or or Polo Romance. I don't recall exactly. I don't wear either one anymore.

    ReplyDelete
  109. I'm sure it was something by Avon, as a little girl. I received Emeraude from a high school boyfriend and detested it. The only gifted perfume I liked was Chanel 5 from a neighbor as a high school graduation gift--I felt so grown up.

    ReplyDelete
  110. Laura Biagiotti - Laura is the first one I can remember. I don't wear it now.

    ReplyDelete
  111. No one has done that, but many years ago I gave myself a perfume at Christmas, it was Pour Lui by Oscar De La Renta. Recently I bought a bottle as a souvenir of the past ... and I still enjoy.

    ReplyDelete
  112. I have never gotten a perfume for Xmas. Rarely people would buy perfumes for me, for well understood reasons. :)
I remember the only one I received it was Hypnotic Poison. I don't remember the occassion. I didn't like it at all. But I learnt to love it. And even if I rarely use it now I think I used 8-9 bottles so far. Obviously it was a smart gift.

The first perfume I remember it was called L'eau de fleur ( I think) . It was many many years ago. I don't remember the smell anymore, so I might be wrong saying it was a chypre floral, but I remember the bottle. White plasic cylinder ( oval in section) with few flowers ( painted like). I am looking to buy it for years but I don't seem to see it anywhere. Remembering the brand name it would be helpful... But my memory is gone. :)

  114. Sad to say, I have never received perfume as a holiday gift (but I make out like a bandit on my birthday!). An excellent topic, though - it is lovely to read about everybody's memory of their first holiday perfume. Here's to a wonderful (and beautifully scented) holiday this year!

    ReplyDelete
  115. My first was Sexy Graffiti by Escada, the original release.. my tastes have greatly changed since then but I still have the bottle, which has a tiny bit remaining. Sniffing it brings back great memories!

    ReplyDelete
  116. The first special perfume I received as a gift was something a friend of my mother's brought back from Paris: Ma Griffe. I just loved it, and wore it every day to high school. I don't wear it now, but I have a bit of the extrait just so I can smell it now and then because it brings back such intense memories. (Yeah, I too am skipping the little girl perfume I had: Friendship Garden.)

  117. Oh, I love this question! I remember clearly my very first Christmas perfume -- it was the old Chloe, and I couldn't have been older than 13 or 14. It was the edt formula, and I remember being just a tad disappointed that I didn't get the fancy calla lily bottle I had seen in the ads. The very next year I remembered to be more specific and got the beautiful little lily bottle with the extremely potent juice.

  120. I've never received a gift of fragrance maybe that will change this year? It was a lot of fun reading through everyones memories related to this though. Good luck everyone and thanks again for the generosity Andy! Thanks for hosting today's draw, nice to get exposed to a new blog as well.

  122. As far as I remember it was a collection of minis by Lancome from a friend and I still have Tresor and have and wear Poeme and Miracle.

    ReplyDelete
  123. My best friend gave me a bottle of Florida Water when we were about 7 -- far better than the cheap knockoff version of Diorissimo EDT given to me by an ex-husband many years later!

  124. Miss Dior decades ago - RIP.

  125. I have not received a fragrance for a Christmas gift. Thanks for the draw!

  126. Never got perfume as a christmas gift.

  127. My mother gave me a bottle of Chanel when I was about 5, for the holidays. I think it was No.5, but I'm not sure. I still wear Chanel ;)

    Thanks again, Andy !

  128. The very first fragrance as a gift came from my father in law after a business trip. "l'air du temps" by Nina Ricci. I don't wear in anymore but it always reminds me of him.
Andy, thanks again for the draw and I am still waiting to get my hands on a drop (or a bottle) of cologne du Maghreb.

  129. I am another member of the Anais Anais club - my boyfriend got it for me becasue I had spent all my pocket money on the body powder ( so glamorous for a 17 year old who then realised that she never uses body powder. I still have it and it still smells gorgeous.) In return I gave him Cacharel Homme - hm, there was a bit of a theme going on at the time....I still wear it occasionally but it makes me feel very nostalgic.

  130. Ugh, this is going to date me back to the paleolithic era. ;) It was Charlie by Revlon. My father gave it to me and signed the card "with love, Shaun Cassidy." [I was obsessed with him at the time, cough, cough. Go figure.]
I think the perfume was actually pretty awful, but I will always associate it with one of my fondest memories of my Dad.

    ReplyDelete
  131. I only got a perfume once - Givenchy's Very Irresistible which turned out absolutely horrible on my skin. I think perfumes are something personal, almost intimate, that you just can't give as a gift.

    ReplyDelete

  133. The first perfumes I remember getting as a gift, and I'm talking nice perfume (not like, Love's Babysoft), was around age 11 or 12 my dad bought me 2 mini coffrets for Christmas. I remember they contained Arden True Love, Sunflowers, and Red Door, Dior Poison, White Shoulders, Nicole Miller, Jessica McClintock, Liz's White Diamonds and Passion. I loved them! I believe my next request had been a full bottle of sunflowers...and I can't stand smelling it anymore lol. I wish I had kept all those minis though....

    ReplyDelete
  138. I've never actually received a perfume as a Xmas gift. I enjoyed reading everyone else's answers tho!

  139. It wasn't for Christmas, but the first meaningful perfume gift was a small bottle of 4711, which I just thought was the height of sophistication (it wasn't candy pink or little girlie at all!) I still remember the giver fondly, and where it when the summer sun shines.

    ReplyDelete
  140. I just got a perfume for a Cristmas present for a first time: Vintage Chanel 19 parfum. I couldn't be happier!

    ReplyDelete
  141. I've never gotten perfume as a Christmas gift, but I've received plenty of bath and body works body sprays. I don't use them anymore, but there is still a bottle sitting on my desk.

    ReplyDelete
  142. The first perfume I ever got for Xmas was a bottle of White Linen lotion from my grandmother, after asking to borrow hers. I was thrilled. I do still wear White Linen.

    ReplyDelete
  145. Shalimar extrait in 1988--a present from my then husband (it was his favorite scent), and the only perfume I've ever received as a gift. It suits me much more now than it did then.

    ReplyDelete
  146. I don't think I ever got perfume as a christmas gift. I'm not shure about KL (by lagerfeld) in 1984. Maybe I got that one for christmas. The very first perfume I ever owned was a smal bottle amber perfume oil from an Indian store.

    ReplyDelete
  147. Joop Perfume by Joop! for Women

    ReplyDelete
  148. I once received a small exotic bottle which shape likes a knife, I thought it was from middle east. It has long gone, color was blue, an unknown bottle maybe I didn't care too much back then, it was 25 years ago..
    Happy holidays to all!

    ReplyDelete
  149. Heaven Sent. My parents gave it to me for Christmas when I was about 15 years old. I marinated myself in that stuff. 45 years later I still have the smell in my head! LOL!

    and...no. I don't think I could/would wear it now. I'm 45 years past that sell-by date!

  155. Armani Code. And I still own the same bottle, and still wear it!

    ReplyDelete
  156. I think the perfume was called 360* (degrees). My mom gave it to me for Christmas. I was so excited because it made me feel grown up. It didn't take long to figure out that it oddly both made me hungry (so strange) and gave me a terrible headache. I'm guessing it was the melon note that made me hungry and the poor, synthetic materials that caused the headache. Still, I loved that my mom bought it for me.

    ReplyDelete
  157. I'm sure I must have gotten something from Avon, but I don't remember what.

The one I do remember is one of those liter bottles of Jean Nate from my sister when I was in high school. I think I had that thing for years and years. I do still have a bottle, newer of course. I spray some on in the summer to refresh.

Thanks to Andy and you for the generosity of this event!

  158. Chanel Coco. It was my first real perfume too! Still love it.

    ReplyDelete
  159. 360' (degrees) from my mom for Christmas a long time ago. Loved that she bought it for me but couldn't wear it.

  160. F<or a Christmas present, I was given Paloma Picasso's 'Mon Parfum' in EdP in 1986, I think it was. I suspect it ruined me for life...;) I'd wear it with a vengeance today and probably better - if I only knew where to find it in a vintage version!

    ReplyDelete
  161. My first fragrance gift was Heaven Sent from my parents. I was probably 12 and thought it was the most grown-up gift ever. No idea what it smells like now!
My best was vintage Nuit de Noel that I "suggested" to my husband two

    ReplyDelete
  162. In fact I never got a perfume for Christmas. The first fragrance I bought was Prada Amber pour Homme. It became my signature scent.

    ReplyDelete
  163. Well, funny enough..

  164. This sounds insane, but my grandmother gave me a bottle of Poison when I was in 4th or 5th grade, and I really liked it, so I probably over-applied in my youthful enthusiasm. I feel sorry for my former classmates.

  168. My first Christmas perfume was the
lovely old round bottle of Shalimar.
My mother said that for months after I left home, when she went to my closet she could smell Shalimar.
I still wear it on occasion.

Thank you for the opportunity to
    win something beautiful.

  169. my first one was LouLou. I was 18 and in love :) 38 now, in love, but no LouLou anymore :)

    ReplyDelete
  170. I've received perfume presents for my December birthday rather than Christmas, the first being an Avon fragrance or two from my sister -- I think Honeysuckle and Sweet Bird of Paradise -- then Aromatics Elixir after I had started wearing it back when it first came out in the early 70s. Still wear Aromatics Elixir from time to time.

    ReplyDelete
  171. I have never received a fragrance as a gift! Sad...

    ReplyDelete
  172. Oops forgot to add my name before I hit post on the anonymous comment re receiving Avon scents and Aromatics Elixir which I still wear. Please modify it if you can so you can identify it. If not then I suppose you can just delete this one and tell by the time stamp if I'm the lucky one.

  182. When I was in middle school my mom started putting Avon solids in my stocking. I loved them and used (probably over-used) them all the time. I don't remember all the names, but I know I got To a Wild Rose and Here's My Heart. There was another that was very woody/amber, but I can't remember it's name. Oh, and Hawaiaan White Ginger, too.

  185. !st perfume as a Christmas gift? Easy. Chanel 5 perfume from my kid brother. I was 18 & had been in the hospital for quite a while. He was 16. It must have taken his entire gasoline budget. When he was at the Academy and before he was married, he'd send me a bottle from wherever he was. Do I still wear it? Not so much. It's more a talisman of what once was.

    ReplyDelete
  186. YSL M7 and I still wear it with great affection.
