Sue Devitt Eye Intensifier pencils have been a staple in my makeup arsenal years before starting this blog. The chubby pencils that contour and shadow give a lot of impact with minimal effort and can be a building block in a more elaborate makeup look. They're pliable enough but not smudgy, pack all the pigment one might need and stay put all day long even in the worst weather conditions (NYC in August).
I've already featured several Sue Devitt pencils: Gold Reef, Golden Triangle, Victoria Falls and Kalahari, but somehow missed reviewing Surat, even though I'm on my second one. Surat (I love that Sue Devitt names her colors after beautiful locations) is described as a shimmering silver-taupe. I guess that's correct, though the color changes with the light and can look warmer than most taupes (it's low on gray). In any case, this is an easy to wear go-to shade that plays well with just about everything you can throw its way. I wear it with several Sue Devitt eye shadows as well as with some LMdB neutrals (try Corinthian).
Bottom Line: as excellent as it's versatile.
Sue Devitt Eye Intensifier Pencils ($22) are available from many department stores including Barneys, Bloomingdale's and Macy's, as well as from Ulta (limited selection) and suedevittbeauty.com.
P.S. I was asked to do comparison swatches of Sue Devitt's pencils next to Laura Mercier Caviar Sticks. I'll do that soon and post the photos on my Facebook group (please join!).
Kittehhhh! My mother once represented Sue Devitt in a customs case. I was very sad that I didn't get any of her fantastic eyeliners out of it.
