Hourglass' range of eye shadow duos is called Visionaire and includes six combinations of silky smooth shades that are rich in color and depth. All of them are shimmery, some more so than others (the black in Prism is full-on glitter). Hourglass eye shadows can be also applied wet, but I don't find a reason to do so. These colors can be dramatic when packed on dry.
Dune is a classic combination of champagne and dark blackened olive/gray. The colors are pretty universal in a neutral-warm way. The olive is so dark it doesn't have a green cast and the champagne is delicate and only appears golden under a certain light. I tried to show the colors' complexity and the way they're transformed by the direction of light. These are day-to-night colors. Office-friendly that can be easily turned into a sultry evening look by intensifying and smoking out the dark part.
Bottom Line: gorgeous.
Hourglass Visionaire Eye Shadow Duo ($38) in Dune and other colors can be found at Barneys and Sephora, online and in store.
The one I got was Suede, which is a lovely light pearl beige highlighter and a gorgeous neutral taupe. I'm wearing it right now over MAC Paint Pot in Nubile (a near-nude pinky blush) for a work-friendly EOTD. The textures are truly awesome.
ReplyDeleteI swatched some hourglass shadows in the store a while ago and was immediately impressed by the texture and blend ability. I nabbed the two tone taupe to use as a base for various single colors. It's a great shortcut for traveling too.
ReplyDeleteI really love all of the Hourglass shadows, and have this one as well. The texture and pigmentation is excellent! Great swatches :)
ReplyDeleteMy those look lovely-will have to try these next time I'm at Barneys.
