Sephora Professionnel Platinum Concealer Airbrush #57

Considering the general awesomeness of Sephora Professionnel Platinum Foundation Airbrush #55 and #56 , I expected the accompanying concealer brush, Sephora Professionnel Platinum Concealer Airbrush #57 to be of similar quality. It isn't.

Now, the Sephora Professionnel Platinum Concealer Airbrush #57 is not a bad brush and it's in my regular rotation (I was my concealer brushes after every use), but it falls short. While the two airbrush platinum foundation brushes are very sturdy and densely packed, the #57 is a bunch of hairs short of perfection. It buffs and blends my concealer adequately, but not as well as the amazing (and much larger) Trish McEvoy The Point  brush; since the #57 is completely blunt, it's far less directional and precise than the Dermablend concealer brush (review coming soon). I do prefer the Sephora #57 to MAC 217, then again, the 217 is an eye brush that I borrow and use for just about every small blending job. In any case, the #57 is softer (newer MAC 217 brushes from the last couple of years are often quite scratch, unlike their predecessors).

Bottom Line: shrug.

Sephora Professionnel Platinum Concealer Airbrush #57 ($24) is available online and in store.

  3. I'm surprised by this review. I have this brush (in addition to several other concealer brushes, none of which I use since getting this one) and find it amazing. It blends concealer quickly and flawlessly, and I'm easily able to sweep product into the inner corner of the eye (always a trouble spot for me) or out onto the cheekbone, if desired. It's incredibly soft, washes easily, and doesn't shed. The #57 is the brush that will be pried out of my cold, dead hands.

  4. I have to disagree with my experience with this brush. Although I don't find it as soft as the larger #56, I still adore this concealer brush and find it works brilliantly with BB concealer to cover up blemishes and buff away obvious makeup for a natural(ish) look. However, my brush looks less tapered than yours, and I just purchased it about 2 weeks ago so it hasn't changed shape from use. weird?
