L'Occitane released an impressive line of makeup, Pivoine Flora, as part of their Peony collection for spring/summer 2011. I haven't researched the scientific side of adding peony extracts to the products, so I can't comment on any extra benefit to that, but I can tell you that I'm enjoying the two items I was sent (a review of the lip gloss coming in a few days).
I packed the L'Occitane Pivoine Flora Eye Duo Blanche Etoile eye shadow for my May long weekend in Montreal because it arrived the day before we left and I was eager to play with it. This turned out to be a great choice, as the duo provided me a quick way to transform my day makeup into a night out look even when I was tired after a full day of sightseeing and walking all over creation. A touch of the vanilla highlighter, a swipe of the charcoal, a little blending and there you have it- a quick smoky eye.
The texture is very soft and almost buttery. It's a bit crumbly to the touch, so a soft sable eye brush is highly recommended (I had Shu Uemura Natural 10 with me and it was perfect), and a good primer is a must if you expect the colors to stay in place. I could have lived without the shimmer particles, but they're not bothersome in a smoky eye look. The highlighter that barely shows up on my arm (I should have used a base or at least a moisturizer before swatching) looks very pretty on the brow bone and I've been using it with other eye shadows quite often.
Bottom Line: cheap, easy and pretty.
L'Occitane Pivoine Flora Eye Duo Blanche Etoile Eye Shadow ($16) is available from L'Occitane boutiques everywhere and usa.loccitane.com. The company sent this duo for my consideration.

I've always been curious to try out their make-up but the shades never quite fit. I will have to check this one out, I love a charcoal/white duo.
ReplyDeleteSophia, the line was a wonderful surprise. Good colors, high quality, cute packaging.
