Paula Dorf Enhancer Baby Eyes
Paula Dorf has a little trick to help in the good fight of looking alive. Her inner rim eyeliner Enhancer Baby Eyes is a flesh toned pencil- not white, not pink, no shimmer or pearl or anything that look unnatural in that area. The pencil is a warm beige that once applied to the waterline doesn't look like makeup. It doesn't draw any attention to itself, but makes a subtle hard to define difference. I look awake and unbunnified, and that's a real improvement.
As with all pencils that go on the inner rim, I always wish Paula Dorf Enhancer Baby Eyes was softer, but that would probably take away from its ability to stay put. It's not too stiff or unyielding, I just generally dislike stuff in my eyes, but the result is worth getting over myself. The Enhancer's effect lasts for about 4 hours before I need to consider a touch up. It doesn't smear or smudge, just fades slowly.
Bottom Line: as essential as my first cup of tea in the morning.
Paula Dorf Enhancer Baby Eyes ($20) is available at Henri Bendel in NYC and pauladorf.com.

I've been using Chanel's pencil in Clair this past year and love the way it neutralizes fatigue and allergy related redness. These great skin tone pencils have surged in popularity and are now just as indispensable as a good corrector/concealer. It makes you wonder why we struggled along with white for so many years. Although I love a soft, luminous white pencil for special evening effects, nothing beats the beiges for a natural get-the-red-out look that is appropriate at any time of the day or night. And, with so many brands bringing out their own versions of this little miracle worker, it's easier than ever for anyone to find the right color and the right price. As I said, what took us so long?
ReplyDeleteGaia,
ReplyDeleteMy eyes are so icky today, does this pencil make allergy eyes look less red?
Thanks,
Tara
Ooops, I mean itchy...not icky..
ReplyDeleteI had to go look at my pencil stub to see if it was the same thing. I had no idea it as called Baby Eyes. I've been using this for years, and I completely agree that the flesh color is perfect for the lower rim. White is hideous on me, and pink makes me look like a lab rabbit.
ReplyDeleteFour hours wear?! I'm impressed. Mine wears off much more quickly, but it's worth it. I carry it around with me, and I must be on my 4th or 5th pencil since the first one I purchased in 2000.
@Natasha/Tara, I don't know how sensitive your eyes are, but mine are extremely sensitive (allergies, mild ocular rosacea), and this pencil doesn't bother them one bit. In fact, the flesh tone conceals the redness I get on the rim.
A great pencil that gets so little love. Thanks for reviewing it and reminding me how much I love mine. Gaia.
Eileen, I have no idea how managed without a product like this for so long. I could never make pure white work for me- the contrast is too harsh and always looked weird. It is such a common sense solution, seriously- these liners should have been here all along.
ReplyDeleteTara, I also suffer from seasonal allergies that make me look like a weepy bunny, so yes, this pencil is a great solution, though on days I tear up a lot I have to touch up more often.
ReplyDeleteZP, the 4 hour wear is impressive. It doesn't budge except for really bad allergy days (I'm very sensitive to most medication so only take them at night).
ReplyDeletePaula Dorf is amazing. This line deserves so much more love and recognition than it gets.
