Kate Middleton Reaches Into Her Own Closet
I was happy to see the Duchess of Cambridge's beautiful blue brocade coat make another appearance at Windsor Castle's St George's Chapel for the special service marking Prince Philip's 90th birthday. The coat was last seen at the wedding of Kate and William's friends, Nicholas van Cutsem and Alice Hadden-Paton in August 2009:
I wouldn't have remembered it had I not seen a photo of Kate Middleton wearing it in a special edition Life Magazine (and even scanned the picture myself for this post). I still can't find any details on the coat's designer or what store/brand it is, but I lik it and the way Kate accessorized it at both occasions.

Yes, this brocade coat is beautiful. Thanks for posting. Did you see the black net fascinator (or was it a hat?) that Kate wore for the formal celebration of the Queen's birthday? I loved that too. I wish I had occasions and places to wear them.
ReplyDeleteI love Kate Middleton and her style. I saw a feature on her in a magazine showing photographs of her using the same pieces from her closet in different combinations on multiple occasions.
ReplyDeleteShe's so elegant and beautiful and I love that she goes into her own closet to wear pieces multiple times for different occasions.
Ava, I know. I admire these hats so much. I wear less fancy ones as much as possible. Always have, by the way, even back in my teens when it was considered highly eccentric. Then again, I was growing a pixie cut and had no choice- my hair was utterly atrocious for 6 months.
ReplyDeleteSabrina, I agree. That's what creates real elegance- not the amount of shopping on can do, but using what you already have creatively and wearing it well.
ReplyDeleteKate has such a great sense of style and what suits her. I hope she'll never fall victim to some stylist's notion of what a future queen should wear. That usually translates as dowdy and matronly. Some of the things that Princess Diana wore before she developed her own style and the confidence to wear it were downright frumpy. It was a joy to see her eventually grow from an ackward duckling into a confident swan. I think Kate is already there. She's a stunner!
ReplyDeleteIt is such a great color for her, I love that coat. It looks especially great with the light/nude platform heels.
ReplyDeleteWhenever I go back to England to see my family, I always go shopping at Next or Debenham's. There is no shortage of stylish, feminine clothes, well-made in England. And the colours! You can't find them anywhere else. I swear.
ReplyDeleteShe always looks great, happy to see married life treating her well with her glowing. The girl has an awesome set of legs, too!
ReplyDeleteAccording to Tom & Lorenzo, "Catherine wore a Jane Troughton brocade coat, Zara dress and LK Bennett shoes."
ReplyDeleteJust thought you'd like to know!

Eileen, I remember some of Diana's outfits in the early years looked like she shared stylist with the Queen Mother.
ReplyDeleteCarrie, I agree about the shoes, though I prefer the dark navy clutch from 2009.
ReplyDeleteHopflower, I really like Debenham's too. I miss London, it's my favorite place after NYC.
ReplyDeleteSophia, I know- Kate is glowing. I think she was very ready to take on the role.
ReplyDeleteC., thanks! It's funny how this coat has been around for a while but only yesterday we started getting the info about it.
