My relationship with Smashbox Photo Op Under Eye Brightener started on the wrong foot, as the first sample squirted out uncontrollably, sending my silk dress straight to the cleaners. Several sample tubes later, I'm still not impressed. A very shimmery peach does nothing for me or for my dark under-eye circles, except drawing even more attention where I want none.
You can clearly see the shimmery finish in the swatch and also that it's not a good match for olive skin. For some reason, Photo Op Under Eye Brightener doesn't come in any other shades, so what you see is what you get.
Bottom Line: Get YSL Touche Eclat or Guerlain Precious Light.
Smashbox Photo Op Under Eye Brightener ($18) is available from Sephora and smashbox.com.
Photos by me.
Interestingly enough, I love this stuff and my skintone is a shade or two darker than yours. I think it has something to do with the color of my undereye circles. The Smashbox has this peach tint that does well to conceal my chronic insomnia. Plus, I love it on my cheekbones and the inner corners of my eyes as well.
ReplyDeleteI will say, though, that on extremely sunny days I have to use it sparingly/mix the tiniest bit with my concealer or else it looks like I tried to snort shimmer dust and missed.
I had a similar "nuh-uh" experience with this. Luckily, I found an unopened, in-the-box Touche Eclat at the back of the makeup drawer that same day, so I'm good (how often is it that we find stuff like THAT when we go hunting? not very often, if you're me).
