I'm not much of a resolution person. I usually just make decisions and go for them, but a new year is actually as good time as any to reflect a little and see what I'm doing right and which areas could use some improvement. So here are five resolution-like thoughts:
1. I will try harder to accept the imperfections. My eyebrows aren't symmetric, would never be exactly the same and any effort to even them out makes things weird. I look better with my slightly uneven brows.
2. I will scrub my face much less and exfoliate my legs more. While my face doesn't need much stimulation, the cuir de crocodile on my legs definitely does.
3. I will continue going out of my comfort zone. Blogging has ensured I'd never get into a beauty rut because I'm always trying something new- color, scent, texture. It's the most important beauty lesson I've learned.
4. Out with the old. I've gotten a lot better on not stocking up on discontinued items (except for perfume. this is a different ball game and hoarding gems of the past is highly encouraged), but I still bought two tubes of Remede Double Oxygenating Booster after it was axed. My goal for this year is to go down to zero hoarded items.
5. This resolution was inspired by something I've read on I Smell Therefore I Am, and immediately identified. I will use my perfumes lavishly, including the precious vintage ones. I have enough juice to marinate a village and I plan to keep buying what I love, so I should enjoy it fully.
Have you made any beauty and perfume resolutions?

Haha! "I have enough juice to marinate a village"
ReplyDeleteAin't it the truth? I plan to spray 2010 with wanton abandon as well!
Happy New Year,
Trish
Great resolutions! I totally agree with 'spraying lavishly' - I think luxury should be enjoyed every day :)
ReplyDeleteMy beauty resolutions this year focus on quality over quantity, especially where fragrance is concerned. I am also going into anti-hoard mode!
Happy New Year ♥
I just realized I actually decided to do 5. myself. I was thinking about the amount of perfumes I have (which will only grow larger) and there is no point in using them sparingly. :)
ReplyDeleteHappy New year!
"enough juice to marinate a villiage", I quite enjoyed that!
ReplyDeleteGreat resolutions! And I agree with Stefanie, it's about quality not quantity.
I have a bunch of body sprays that I don't use, I always use my perfumes instead. And a couple of the perfumes are from Avon, which aren't the greatest. Instead of spending $10 here and $20 there on cheap stuff, I'll splurge on one great item, when it comes to scents. I have a couple favorite perfumes (Givenchy, Benefit, and YSL).
And I should really clean out my perfumes and makeup, that of which I do not use and those that have expired :/
I'm extending last year's 'letting go' resolution, which was being honest and getting rid of makeup I don't like and never touch but won't throw out because "it's so wasteful"/"I might need it later!".
ReplyDeleteI made a lot of progress, but I still have tons of ridiculous makeup from my college years knocking around, because I've used it once or twice, used to like it, or think it's perfect for a very specific type of occasion. My plan is to get rid of one item per week, either by finishing what I love or throwing away what I hate, so that in 2011 I've got a streamlined makeup collection of only useful or beautiful things.
Happy New Year!
My only beauty resolution is to massage my scalp and brush my hair 100 times before shampooing. So far I'm not doing too well, since I'm always in a hurry and forget, but I'm working on it.
ReplyDeleteI've been purging old cosmetics for the past year and have finally gotten down to only those items I regularly use and love. Same with perfumes. I'm hoping to only buy 4 bottles max this year - and spray lavishly!
