Chanel's email newsletter this morning announced the coming release of Les Trompe-L'Oeil de Chanel, a range of (brace yourselves) temporary tattoos depicting "iconic Chanel symbols and codes".
Basically, someone at Chanel is really embracing the Heidi Montags of the world and other brilliant thinkers who love sporting commercial logos directly on their bodies. At least when celebs do it they either get paid or get expensive accessories for free. The rest of us are expected to pay for the privilege of adorning ourselves with this crap.

Body art (AKA tattoos) is supposed to be about expressing individuality. Although I don't particularly like them, I respect other people's decisions to have them. But, a bunch of logo crazed women rushing out to buy and sport a crassly commercial product? That's about mediocrity.
ReplyDeleteYeesh - say it ain't so!
ReplyDeleteThat whooshing sound you hear is Coco Chanel spinning madly in her grave....
I these are decals that look like Chanel jewelry - chains, etc. - that you can stick onto your neck and wrists. I'm not sure they have the entwined Cs. Can't wait to see the even cheesier knockoffs pop up in mall accessory stores. Tres chic, NOT.
ReplyDeleteYou know I always thought Uncle Karl was just a little kooky but he's gone off the deep end! I have no words for this...
ReplyDeleteThere's no excuse for this. Next stop, Walmart.
ReplyDeleteSo sad.
ReplyDeleteMy boyfriend saw these while looking over my shoulder and loomed it. He found them hot. He wanted to get them. I laughed--he would die if he saw the price.
ReplyDeleteBut, then, I do sport a small tattoo done in a livingroom 20 years ago, which he finds also hot.
I agree! It is the bastardization of Chanel! As Flora said, Mademoiselle Chanel is definitely turning in her grave! x Ophelia
ReplyDeleteOh, Good Lord.
ReplyDeleteSunglasses with giant intertwined "C's" on the earpieces weren't bad enough, I guess.
Sounds like something Kim Kardashian would love.
Yeah, some strange things do seem to be afoot re: Chanel:
