The two latest eye shadow palettes from YSL, No. 7 Bronze Gold and No. 8 Midnight have replaced the highlighter in the middle with an eyeliner (in powder form). While Midnight is the one featured in this season's look and goes well with the gorgeous new Rouge Volupté Lipstick #22 Exquisite Plum, I think that Bronze Gold is the more interesting one (and as far as I'm concerned more wearable).
The colors include an almost white highlighter with a warm undertone, a shimmery brass, a golden khaki (my favorite and truly unique. It's a bolder color than this season's Golden Leaf by Bobbi Brown), a stunning golden green-undertoned yellow and a dark chocolate brown for lining.
The texture is very soft and blendable, but it's also a bit crumbly, as I think you can see in the photos. It doesn't affect performance, as long as you use good and soft brushes and apply it over a primer- all colors last over 12 hours without losing their potency.
For those who wonder how in the world would an adult woman wear a bright yellow eye shadow, here's a neat trick I've learned from Dustin, the makeup artist for Le Metier de Beaute: You know how so many makeup manuals recommend that you use a highlighter on the inner corner of your eyes? Well, it looks nice in fashion photography and red carpet events, but let's face it: on us, normal people who go out for dinner or an office cocktail party, silver or champagne shimmer can look a bit over the top. Surprisingly, a tiny dab of yellow does the trick beautifully (at least if you have olive skin/yellow undertones).
I got this palette from a friend with an exquisite eye and taste. You can find it at your local YSL counters as well as online.
All photos are mine.

I was about to buy this palette but then the MA discouraged me for the yellow color. I have an olive undertones so that will justify in buying the palette :-) Thank you for the tip
ReplyDeleteI just bought this palette days ago and I am so loving it! I have warm undertones.
