With blue and green eye makeup everywhere, we shouldn't forget why these colors had a questionable reputation. And it's not just an 80s thing: these looks are from the 60, some are worse than others, all are amusing.

Ah, the "Soaring Sixties"! I remember them well. I had three eye shadows (in stick form) in my bag: a light smokey lavender, a pale pistachio green, and a classic baby blue. And, yes, indeed, we did wear the color all the way up to the brow although it was not nearly as vibrant as in the pictures you posted. When model Jean Shrimpton became popular, color yielded to dove gray on the lid, cocoa brown in the crease, and stark white on the brow bone. That was when we really started contouring with shadows.
ReplyDeleteWow! I loved reading this!! So interesting!
ReplyDeleteoh wow i love those polish colors!
ReplyDeleteEileen, I saw some photos of Jane Shrimpton when researching makeup trends of past decades. Very beautiful and certainly an icon. I can't think of any current model who has an inspiring look.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Catanya :)
