Talk about high maintenance.
This story from British paper Daily Mail puts our Fekkai, Ojon and Carol's Daughter habit in perspective. Apparently, Catherine Zeta-Jones' conditioner of choice is caviar. The real thing. Imported for her from Iran on a weekly basis.
What do you think she smells like?

She smells like money, and I can smell her from here. Can anyone say 'Rich White Trash'?
ReplyDeleteOMG, Sonia that's too funny! I'm not so sure I believe this one, I can't see how caviar could be that great of a conditioner (usually those have even more fat, remember those home conditioners with mayo, olive oil and avocado?), but if it's true I bet it smells pretty horrid.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure I buy this. It reminds of all the stories about Kim Basinger demanding that her hair only be washed with Evian water.
ReplyDeleteNot buying it. I'd guess that the only way she'd do that is if she became the spokesperson for Iranian caviar and got it free..
ReplyDeleteActually, tmp00, it's very likely that she DID get the treatment gratis. Celebrity hair-stylists (famous it their own rights), often cut, color and style (all of which can run up into the hundreds)a star's hair free of charge solely for boasting rights and name recognition ('come to Hari's in South Kensington, London and try Catherine's favorite caviar and truffle treatment for yourself!'). If they're willing to forfeit their fees for cutting, coloring and styling, why should they charge for shampoo and deep-conditioner? Even if CZ-J does (doubtful) pay for all of the services listed above, it's by no means the most frivolous thing for which a celebrity has dropped cash.
ReplyDeletePS elaine: It's no more unusual/irrational for a celebrity to insist on washing his/her hair (such as Ms. Basinger) or his/her face (like Cameron Diaz and Demi Moore) in Evian than it is for a celebrity to insist he/she will ONLY drink bottled Evian water (Ashley Judd, amongst others). If you could choose between drinking tap-water and imported spring-water, would you really choose tap-water? Celebrities simply take that logic a step further.
Christine- I'm not sure what's worse- the smell or getting all these tiny eggs on your neck and in your ears. Creeps me out.
ReplyDeleteElaine- Yes, there are always stories about celebs' extravagance. I'm never sure what to believe.
T- Indeed. From other CZJ stories I've heard, she's not really into paying for stuff.
Sonia- I know what you mean about stylist becoming celebs. It's gotten to the point that I can actually recognize Ken Pave's face. Not sure if it says something about him or about me...
For the record: I don't actually think it's absurd to wash your hair with bottled water. I'd do it if I could afford it. It wouldn't have to be Evian; any bottled water would do. The water that comes out of my tap is loaded with chlorine and washes out the hair color that I pay good money for. I've got a filter on my showerhead but bottled water would be even better. When my ship comes in...
